On the afternoon of December 23, 2020, the seminar on "External relations between Vietnam and ASEAN in the current context' was presented by the speaker Le Thi Thu Hang, the spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam held at the 5th-floor meeting hall, Information and Library Centre in Hanoi University of Home Affairs. Assoc. Prof. PhD. Nguyen Ba Chien, Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University attended and delivered the opening speech.

On the afternoon of December 23, 2020, the seminar on "External relations between Vietnam and ASEAN in the current context'  was presented  by the speaker Le Thi Thu Hang, the spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam held at the 5th-floor meeting hall, Information and Library Centre in Hanoi University of Home Affairs. Assoc. Prof. PhD. Nguyen Ba Chien, Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University attended and delivered the opening speech.
Attending were PhD Le Thi Van Anh, Dean of Faculty of Political Science, , the Heads and Deputy Heads from units belong and directly belong to the University, the lecturers and  a larger number of students from the two faculties of Political Science and Organization and Government Construction.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Chien expressed his pleasure and honor to welcome Ms. Hang. He affirmed that there have been many changes in recent times in the context of the world and the region. Yet, In 2020, Vietnam assumed its role of Chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations for the second time and this was also the 25th anniversary of Vietnam joining ASEAN. Foreign relations between Vietnam and ASEAN were a practical, current and essential topic for the lecturers and students of Hanoi University of Home Affairs. Valuable knowledge and experience shared by Ms. Hang on today's seminar would provide background knowledge and clear vision, contributing to improving teaching and learning quality of the lecturers and students.

Ms. Hang also gave a presentation on the basic contents on such matters as the world crisis caused by Covid 19, the hardship of the world economy, the extremely complicated world politics and security, the South China Sea situation hotspot in the United States and China competition and so on. Yet, ASEAN still showed solidarity. She also mentioned the domestic contexts which were that Vietnam played a dual role in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic, which meant being both ASEAN President and Non-Permanent Member of the Security Council of the United Nations 2020-2021. In addition, it actively participated in multilateral forums (G20, WTO, WHO ...) and international economic integration and  achieved many important achievements, especially strong free trade agreements.
In its foreign affairs, Vietnam had complished  many outstanding missions like well performing the role of the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020; acting as a non-permanent member of the Security Council of the United Nations, connecting ASEAN with the United Nations;  effectively exercising health diplomacy, ie. assisting countries in the prevention of the Covid epidemic 19; promoting bilateral relations with neighboring countries and important partners (Laos, Cambodia, China, Japan, India, UK, Korea, Russia, Germany ...); performing the task of protecting citizens (protecting fishermen, organizing more than 200 flights to bring citizens back home, supporting health masks ...)

After listening to Ms. Hang's presentation, the whole staff, lecturers and students raised many questions pertaining to the world and regional issues, foreign relations between Vietnam and ASEAN. For every inquiry posed, Ms. Hang answered and shared many experiences from her practical activities.
At the end of the talk, PhD Hoang Thi Huong, on behalf of the Faculty of Political Science, expressed her deep thanks to Ms. Hang and wished for a long-term cooperation between the Faculty of Political Science and Ms. Hang - the spokesperson from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam. The seminar helped teachers and almost 300 students grasp more information about the current situation and foreign affairs of Vietnam ...
