On the afternoon of January 6, 2021, Hanoi University of Home Affairs held a conference summarizing its scientific research and training activities of 2020 and proposed directions and missions for the year 2021. Assoc. Prof. PhD. Trieu Van Cuong, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs attended and spoke at the Conference. Attending were also Assoc.Prof. PhD. Van Tat Thu, former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; PhD. Nguyen Ngoc Van, Director of the Institute of State Organizational Sciences, Ministry of Home Affairs; Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Director of Planning - Finance Department, Ministry of Home Affairs; Ms. Truong Thi Lien, Deputy Director of Personnel and Organization Department, Ministry of Home Affairs; Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, Head of Scientific Management Department, Institute of State Organizational Sciences, Ministry of Home Affairs together with experts and scientists from universities, research institutes and heads of units under and directly under the university.
The Presidium included Assoc. Prof. PhD. Nguyen Ba Chien, Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the university, President of the University's Science and Training Council and Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Quoc Suu, Vice Rector of the University,  Vice President of the Science and Training Council who co-chaired the Conference.

After listening to the report, Mr. Cuong highly appreciated the results of scientific activities that the university had yielded in 2020. He asserted that practical comments by scientists and members of the Scientific Council, who had a lot of experiences in scientific research and expertise, were the basis for the University to absorb and continue promoting its training and scientific research activities. He emphasized “In the upcoming time, the University should pay attention to such contents as improving the quality of research topics, urging them to ensure the rate of progress, strictly evaluating and taking over the topics, projects... according to the prescribed procedures, ... "

In his opening remarks, Mr. Chien, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Rectorate Board and the University Science and Training Council, expressed his sincere thanks to Mr. Cuong, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, delegates and scientists attending the Conference; At the same time, he emphasized the important significance of the annual meeting to the sustainable development of Hanoi University of Home Affairs in the upcoming period.

At the conference, Mr. Suu presented the results of scientific research and training activities and education quality assurance in 2020. In 2020, the University conducted its enrollment work with a total admission candidates of 2,248 students (an increase of 25.8% compared to 2019) and trained 04 postgraduate majors including Archives studies, Public Management, Public Policy and Constitutional and Administrative Law.  As for its scientific research activities, there was 01 topic of excellent grade, 03 good grades and 01 ministerial-level recognized initiative. Regarding students’ scientific research projects, among 142 assigned topics, there were 133 subjects accepted (accounting for 93.66% of the total assigned topics), of which 02 topics of excellent grade were selected to participate in the student scientific research award held by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Central Youth Union. Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations. Also, this was the first time the University had created for students to register to participate in the 22nd Euréka scientific research award organized by the Youth Union - National University of Ho Chi Minh City and had won 01 consolation award.
Apart from the above-mentioned results, it also received a lot of advice and suggestions from the University's Science and Training Council on such contents as opening the tertiary major in English linguistics; completing many projects and applying for the training branch as prescribed in order to put them into enrollment and training as expected in 2021; contructing the project of high-quality training in State Management and Cultural Management but later halted it due to difficulties in working with foreign partners; consolidating the organizational structure to accord to the training activities at its campuses; evaluating projects and topics at all levels, textbooks, lectures, scientific conferences, and seminars; .... Besides, the members of the science and training council had joined in many of the university's postgraduate training activities like giving lectures; compiling and evaluating outline of theses; guiding the theses, taking part in the council for assessing the theses and so on.

At the conference, representatives from the two Faculties of Human Resource Management and Social Management presented their opinions on opening two new disciplines, which were “Economics studies" and " Tourism and Travel Service Management'' to create a learning opportunities for those in need.
Many opinions and discussions were exchanged and discussed at the conference. For example, scientific research should be associated with the training discipline code; building internal systems in online training and learning software; comprehensively reviewing and re-evaluating quality management strategy; ... These opinions also clarified the cause of the limitations and shortcomings in the scientific and training activities over the past time and thereby proposed solutions to well implement them in the year 2021.
The spectacle of the conference
At the end of the conference, Mr. Chien summarized the exchanged contents and highly appreciated the enthusiastic opinions among the Council members and participants. He affirmed these contents would directly contribute to improving the quality of scientific and technological research, training activities at all levels, building the University for more comprehensive development in the upcoming time. He also sincerely wished health, happiness and success to all delegates on the occasion of the new year of 2021.
